Erik Condra is the 13th forward on this team - he's replaceable for a bigger body, a meaner player, a player who gives you an identity which is what 4th line players are supposed to do.

You can't have an NHL playoff team unless your 4th line is reflecting the type of hockey your team is about. They have to be momentum turners, heart and soul guys, annoy people. Fight, run the goalie over, get the crowd going - Condra doesn't of any of these things and neither do his stats.

I like him as a 13th forward, but that's were he belongs.

And greening is in trade rumours as a warning to him to bounce back - they may want to trade him but I'd say he's untraceable with that contract right now

I think Ottawa is looking to carve out jobs for Lazar, Stone and Hoffman at training camp. In addition, still hear rumblings that Murray is trying to do a deal for a top 6 forward.

Pierre Dorion noted that Puemple in his first year in the AHL scored 30 goals. 7 in the first half 23 in the second half of the season. For a 20 year old it is always about progression. If Puemple continues that improvement they will need to find a new challenge for him, soon.

In order for these guys to move up and claim roster spots, some guys are going to have to go.

I'm going to guess Lazar doesn't play a full season in Ottawa - I think they keep him around until the WJC and then release him to play there (as Captain) and then maybe if Ottawa has injuries he's back but I think he'll end up back in junior this year

If he is returned to junior, he cannot be recalled. He cannot be sent to the AHL. Always a mistake to send a kid down when his skill and body are ready for a tougher challenge.

He plays outstanding D. Lots of kids come out of junior that can score. They need to be taught how to be responsible in a 200' game. Lazar will not hurt you in your own end. He will kill penalties. Remember, they came very close to keeping him for the 10 day trial last year. He was a last day cut.

The problem with Condra is that he isn't talented enough offensively to be on the 3rd line & I'm sure PM would prefer a hard crashing body on the 4th line, not to mention Neil has that spot locked for the next 2 years, so I thinks it's less about wanting to trade him, and more about where does he fit on this team.

As of right now, Ryan, Chiasson & Neil are locks on the right side, and Stone finally looks like an NHL player so he should be on this team before Condra. He's a good bottom 6 player, but his playing style is suited for a 3rd scoring line, not a body crashing 4th line, and he sucks too much offensively to be on the 3rd line so to me he's doesn't fit on this team right now.

I am fine with Condra on the team and would like a 4th line of

Lazar-Smith-Condra

I think we are sitting with 2 extra forwards and 1 extra defenceman. So something still has to give this summer. If Ottawa was smart they'd send Ceci down to the AHL next year to grow and play big minutes. He played well last year for the opportunity he was given but he's still just a kid. Let's hope he doesn't have a sophmore slump if he does play in the NHL. Also, let's hope Weircioch isn't sacrificed to make room for Ceci and then Ceci has a setback and we are screwed.

Anyway, on forwards I'd love to see Neil and Greening traded so that our forwards are mostly skilled players. I know everyone says you need a 4th line to grind but why can't a team go with four lines that all have skill to them?

Clarkson was a high profile UFA signing, and former 30 goal scorer.
Condra is a serviceable 4th liner with a career high of 8 goals.

How many mcclemment blogs has there been? Prob 0-1. Ive seen condra being discussed in great detail about half a dozen times

They said the exact same thing about Cowen, Zibby, Lehner - the Sens management oversells their prospects to promote the only thing we can all agree on - Murray drafts well.

I don't see space for him in this lineup

Mac - Turris - Ryan
9MM - Legwand - Chiasson
Hoffman/Puempel - Zibby - Stone
Greening - Smith - Neil
Condra

where does he fit? And you have Pageau, Grant, Dizzy and some other prosepcts they'd probably like to give NHL games to as well.

you can have him back for your late season collapses your team is becoming famous for. How did the Leafs end up finishing lower then the Sens last year anyways?

Mac was on a Leafs playoff team and you let him go - probably not a smart move considering your team continued it's "reasons for never giving the fans a reason to cheer since the 60's" moto they try so hard to honour

That said, he still comes at a massive, massive discount to Ottawa. A perfect player for a team strapped on a tough internal budget.

Why is this team so tight on cash?

This team is an immediate upgrade over last year's squad defensively but I think Neil isn't going anywhere. The franchise seems to be holding to the likes of Neil and Phillips for some strange reason. I think Sens fans would rather see a winner than a team that holds on to players too long. These guys are great for everything they do outside of hockey but fans would rather win than watch players who are costing their team games.

Let the a young team with strong leadership ie Legawand play. If young guys hustle, play defense and crash the net this team will be fine in the Eastern Conference. It is the perfect time is in the weaker of the two conferences to get better with a younger team. Boston, Pens, TB, Habs, CBJ and everybody else so the conference even at the top has holes so why can't the Senators be competitive with a younger team that plays with speed and grit?

Any info at all on Bryan Murray's health issues? Really feel like he's been the glue to this team for quite some time now... Don't want to see him out of commish just yet!

Condra's role is not to produce double digits. If he did, we wouldn't be able to afford him. His job is to stop the other team from scoring, which is kind of important for a swiss cheesy team like Ottawa. Like Travis wrote, it's absurd to give a guy like Greening twice the money. It should be the other way around. Same reason why it would be a terrible idea to chase after Stewart (= essentially a glorified version of Greening).

If Bryan Murray is sick, wishing him all the best in a speedy recovery, been the worst year in Sens franchise history - lots of on and off ice stuff going on and the health of two of our staff now - here's wishing for better times ahead for everyone

None, absolutely none of which wins you hockey games. This drivel is what comes from Toronto fans and media meatheads. Stop watching LeafsTV.

I really like the look of our team ,its young big and fast and deep.I can see it making the playoffs,we could have 7 40 point getters on our team maybe more .Turris, mac, zbad, ryan, milo, legwand,EK .Add in guys like chaison, stone. And we might not have elite players yet but we can score on teams from any line
